Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

See the long term!!

If Nike wants more sales then they can sell to Walmart and Targets too. That will boost few billion dollar on top line immediately!

Is that what you want? or think it is right way to go? Honestly people!!

That is why going with Amazon is not right way to go. Because they give zero interaction with buyer. Buy $200.00 shoes but there is absolutely no customer to seller interaction.
What is the difference between $200.00 shoes and hammer that you buy in amazon platform?

I know most of people here are working in Nike and depend on that paycheck every Thursday but think broadly and long term.

What Nike is trying to do by going to Amazon is. Trying to run a motel and charge hotel price. That will not work in the long term. It might work short term but it will damage goodwill and heritage that was built over the years.

If it makes the stock price go up, I wouldn't care if they sold them at 7-11.

@OP I’m wondering what the partnership with Amazon will do to the relationships that Nike had burned and are now working hard to earn the trust of those Accounts back. I’d can’t help but think people will be visiting those accounts to check product out, along with getting advice (ie Specialty Running stores) and leaving empty handed as they’re ordering off Amazon that most likely will offer discounts.

Because the consumer doesn’t care about story telling and flashy brand things. They just care about access, grabbing what they see and like, then moving on with their life. You have to evolve. If you think we are going to inspire our way to sales you are crazy. It’s about the right channel these days.

Evolve immediately….

Nike’s brand and product offering has already been diluted enough where the Amazon partnership actually makes sense for the bottom line and for the brand equity. Not meant to be a negative take, but many decisions were made years ago that led Nike to this place. Study Levis x Costco.
