Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

They messed it up completely

How do you mess up a reorg so fundamentally? Especially after preparing for it for so long. This is all such a mess and for no good reason.

So that’s why they will have yet another round to fix the mess they created in the first place . This will require hiring a new set of consultants with AI generated PowerPoints who will eventually reshuffle the same d-mb people around who got us here in the first place . What a circus

And we’ll get to do it all over again in 4 years … rinse and repeat

OP.....a 30+ year employee here (EOI'd in 2020). In a nutshell, CVX management couldn't plan their way out of a wet paper bag. Their history is this. Hire expensive consultants (consultants that don't know the business). Create a catchy name for their reorganization (aka job cuts). Create new organization chart with new business unit names. Shuffle the existing leaders throughout the new org chart. Make a bunch of new job descriptions that are generic and don't actually show what a position is supposed to do (that's because no one actually knows). Have several rounds of selections but don't take into account how people actually perform when making selections. Now you have a new organization where no one knows what they're supposed to be doing or who they should be working with. Oh by the way....CVX will make this entire process incredibly long and drawn out. In the end, you still have a bunch of leaders with zero accountability and a dysfunctional organization.
