Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Discrimination and exclusion, anyone?

First they scrapped DEI stuff, now there are rumours of serious discrimination claims coming out of the UK. Apparently SLT’s aware and a few names are involved? Not exactly shocking, but WTH is going on? If true, it serves them right. Anyone else heard anything?

Did you miss the memo? DEI is thankfully dead. Now back to work!

@33e There is a swag store now. Is that not culture? Purple waves are culture.

Disability discrimination is widespread in this company, not just in the UK: EEOC Sues Pearson Education for Disability Discrimination https://www.eeoc.gov/newsroom/eeoc-sues-pearson-education-disability-discrimination

Not surprising. This companies culture has changed so much with this new leadership. I’m not even sure what our culture is now. Maybe our culture is spelled out in one of the many training videos that we have to watch but I don't see it in practice or any attempt to have a real culture or any signs of a company that really cares about its employees.

Yes there is a serious disability discrimination case happening in London. Leadership seem pretty worried. Horrible and sadly not surprising given the toxic culture

I have been working for Pearson Spain, but after almost a year I feel there's a very toxic component on the Pearson Culture. I know in Spain we are not particularly exceptional about this, but I have never seen this way of mistreating employees anywhere else in my long experience.
This is very hard to solve, just after a few months you can see how the new employees start to adapt to this assh*** culture, this is what is reflected from every corner of the company.
It's very hard to see anything flourish naturally under this conditions, my honest and kind suggestion to leadership is to fix the culture, create safe spaces and focus on preventing any type of harassment.

Yes, it’s very serious. Bullying and harassment is prominent here. There is a male manager in UK s*xually harassing and retaliating against a female employee. People started becoming aware of his behavior including leadership.
