Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Advice

Allstate is a good company. It is NOT the same it was before. And certainly not be for me it went public. I worked there then and was let go in 2020. So, I know! I had a good job and was happy, mostly. If you are not happy. GO. Stop talking about severance and sitting on your hands. Pick yourself up if you are not happy and go. Seriously. There are other companies if it is not working for you at Allstate. Be courageous. That is advice from a long term employee.

It’s not a good company. Good companies honor people giving notice when they’re long term employees. Allstate terminates on the spot and also doesn’t pay you for the notice you’ve given. Their HR guidebook supports this position. It’s hard to figure that any company who takes such drastic measures against long time employees is a “good” company.

Many at Allstate suffer from Stockholm syndrome even after they leave. Da place needs to get it’s a-s sued by everyone who had to endure Glenn Shapiro and his woman CB.

Agree. I started there in 1990 - retired. Allstate changed A LOT during the time I was there. It was "bearable" ... well ... as bearable as it could be working for an insurance company ... then ... Glen Shapiro came on board (along with his cronies) and ruined the company which is why I retired. If you are unhappy and miserable, please leave. Allstate is not going to create a better work environment for you, only you can do that by leaving.

Agreed- why would you want to stick around just for severance? It’s likely just to keep you afloat until you find something else. Constant complaining in your job is not good for you or those around you. If you are unhappy leave and go somewhere you are happy, it’s not rocket science. It’s as if those complaining don’t want to hear this though right?

Agree with @az. Even if for some reason you do like this disgusting company, I'd tend think there'd be much better mediums to shill for it. Especially if, as you say, you were let go in 2020 but still get on here to proclaim how great Allstate is. Very weird post. I've worked at a bunch of places and so far, Allstate is the worst in almost every way

@OP, for someone who left the company 5 yrs ago, you're surprisingly tied to this place. One would think that kind of distance would come with a bit more empathy for those still dealing with it, but somehow it doesn't Care to elaborate?

Completely agree. If you're content then great but if you're unhappy it's time for a change. In the next 10 years there's going to be a lot of change, with people leaving being one, might be best to get out ahead of the job rush. No guarantee of what a payoff will be in future and you'll still have to tell a future employer in interviews 'I was made redundant'....and by Allstate which already has a tainted view by other companies.
