Corporations and other businesses can receive a tax benefit for hiring veterans through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

In summary, hiring a veteran is more of a tax write off by IRS rules

I agree with @b3

I also know a few folks that claim disability bc of a “bad back” or “shoulder”, they joke about their service time disability. I’d take advantage of the system too if I was in the same situation. Let’s not get p u s s y hurt over this. We all know it’s happening so let’s not act cry about CVX letting go of “protected vets”

@by, thanks for clearing that up and as a vet, I 100% agree. We are, more than any group, in favor of only merit based placement, advancement and demotion, if applicable.

White male privilege, but the wealthiest average population in the country are Indian American. The next is Chinese American . It seems that every single race can manage to establish footing and succeed in this country

As a veteran, we just hope that vets, disabled or otherwise, get equal treatment. I don’t know the individuals involved but if their contribution to the business was such that they would have been left standing if they did not have that designation, they should be left standing regardless of designation. That’s equal. This is in no way me saying that we don’t need to care for disabled vets as a country.

@b3 wow, man. I’d love the headaches to stop. The ringing in the ears to quote for a bit. Not need a CPAP to sleep. Able to pick up and play with my child. The PTSD to let me be for a bit.

So do I need to lose a limb or something?

@b3 if you are not a disabled vet or haven't served at all, you have no right to opine about veterans disabilities.

My heart aches for our Wells teams. Guys/girls will with lots of experience. California’s a lost cause for new drilling. Looking at that group from operations I’ve always had a lot of respect for the WSR’s. The nice thing is you all have a ton of experience and could potentially land a job with any of our business partners. Keep your head up, this is not the end, but just the beginning

@a5 meritocracy is a good thing. We should all be genuinely color blind.

I know a few “disabled vets”. They are perfectly normal but just so happen to collect disability from their military service time. Seems to be a perk after active duty
