Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Opportunities for B10

create better career opportunities for b10... as someone who's been in the game a long time, it's super unclear how goals are actualy tracked or how targets get assigned. I can sell over 10 million in new business year after year and somehow still not get paid on anything new i bring in. it's beyond frustrating and honestly not motivating at all???

the onboarding was rough, no real guidance, just "learn the ibm way" like you're supposed to read minds. career growth? lol barely. your base salary is all you're really gonna get, no matter what you produce or how much you outsell everyone else...

Very few people seem to be moving up, and the ones who do usually already knew someone or were in the right circle. the culture doesn't reward performance, just time served and politics. it’s sad becuase there’s talent here that’s completly wasted.

As a former B10, and someone who's also been in the game for quite a while, I'll reinforce a common recommendation. Get out of IBM. There are far better opportunities for all that you want elsewhere. Your experience will not change. The only counter strategy - be in the right part of IBM (makes money), get into the biggest accounts, align yourself (and I mean really align yourself) with the Partners who are the rusted on geo leads. Unfortunately these are often not the most talented or inspiring partners, but they've learnt how to play the game and will be around long after others have left or been given the boot.

B10 equals bigger layoff target, specially if you over age 50. At B10 either you will end up getting laid off or they will burn your out. So be careful for what you wish for. Also expect negative impact on your marriage and family relationship. Seen it to many times.

@af

if you are former B10 employee and are willing to work for a B6 or B7 salary and for at least 23 hours a day with minimal benefits, IBM HR wants to hear from you ASAP.

They will not entertain or negotiate for any other requests particularly about benefits - even giving anyone 3 months severance after the layoff notice is painful to these HR cheapskates. The tech world is getting cheaper by the minute where employee salaries are concerned - the Orange man has made many people jobless and AI (All Indian) even more so. (The sole exception is executive salaries and perks where the sky is the still the limit for now).

IBM only wants B6 and B7 people these days... no point to even try to go the B8.

ASK HR Chat Bot is my pet peeve... It's not even close to a real hr depatment. There's no one to call, zilch... No email to reach out to, and the Bot just gives the same canned answers over and over - it's insane. The darnk can't handle anything beyond the most basic stuff and even that is questionalble. They also fu---d up the IT Department peeps don’t take phone calls anymore , so good luck if something actually breaks ork u need some knind of help with work tools, software/hardware/connectivity... IBM doesn't even care about us anymore, just the shareholders and the next earnings slide... We are just a cost ctr now, not people, not assets. this isn't how you run a company that values it's workforce and wants to have future. We are fu---d!
