HelloFresh is closing its distribution center in Grand Prairie, Texas, laying off 273 workers effective May 13, 2025. The company is consolidating its Texas operations to its more advanced facility in Irving as part of a broader effort to improve profitability and streamline its labor strategy.
This move follows recent similar actions in Arizona, where HelloFresh laid off 564 employees tied to a shift in staffing agency use. Impacted workers in both cases were offered reassignment opportunities, often through other staffing partners or through HelloFresh's ready-to-eat meal brand, Factor.
The Grand Prairie closure will leave HelloFresh with eight distribution centers in the U.S. The company has been reevaluating its global logistics network, having closed sites in Georgia and England in 2024 while expanding operations in Australia.
CFO Christian Gartner stated that improving labor productivity in North America has helped stabilize contribution margins. The company is prioritizing profitability and cash flow over volume growth.
In 2024, HelloFresh’s revenue grew less than 1 percent year-over-year. Since January 2025, the company’s stock is down 37 percent, though it remains up 19 percent compared to the same time last year.
