Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

TMO IT Leadership in OP this week…..

Discussing how to “flatten “ IT even more. Jeff Simon, has a reputation for being a total di-k and all of IT is about to experience his small di-k energy.

@jq Dont care,there are plenty of skilled workers in less expensive areas of the country. If they are mostly H1B, who really cares ... put the facility in South Dakota.

Given that the vacancy rate for office space in Factoria is near 45%, I'm not sure Big Pink would be able to sublet it.
Rumor has it, Big Pink aka Toxic-Mobile, is negotiating with the new T-Mobile aka Trump Mobile.

@jd

  1. They're now subleasing some of the office space on the north side of I-90, space they contracted during the $160M facelift they gave to Factoria between 2017 and 2022.
  2. They let the leases expire on the Sunset office spaces 2 years ago.
  3. There's an article I found putting up 2 floors of the AAA Building (formerly known as Newport 1) being up for lease.
  4. The T-Mobile HQ in Bellevue is leased from Preylock (who bought Factoria from Ivanhoe Cambridge in 2019) and is reportedly leased to T-Mobile through 2030. Given that the vacancy rate for office space in Factoria is near 45%, I'm not sure Big Pink would be able to sublet it. They'd likely have to walk away.

People who live in Western Washington like mountains which offer great skiing, hiking, and climbing opportunities thus few of us would ever consider moving to Kanass or Misery.

They really need to flatten the Bellevue Headcount and get rid of those rented facilities (which are owned by AAA and wont sell them). Overland Park a much better location. No I'm not former Sprint either.

So I guess Simon must have stuck a kn--e in the back of Nestor in order to become cio. I appreciate what the guy was trying to do but some of what I see he's implemented makes absolutely no sense. But then again that's status quo for T-Mobile

@dq Yes. Unfortunately, Jack Ma was unavailable to present his 996 work model which Toxic-Mobile is entertaining for its Go-Forward team comprised of visa holders and NTWs.

Earlier this year , there was talk about increasing FTE headcount and reducing NTW to prevent knowledge drain. Flattening might contradict that thought process. We do have a lot of Sr Managers & Directors in IT who only manage NTW, flattening could occur there? We are also about to absorb resources from a recent acquisition, so it could be related to that as well. My two cents, don’t worry is stress about what you don’t know. Life is to short to let this type of thing keep you up at night.
