Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The silence is the loudest part...

the clearest thing to me is that decisons have already been made, people know where they stand-theyre just waiting for the call.
some teams have been told to work from home, others told to show up in person, and we’re all trying to interpret those instructions like they’re signs from above.
This is soooooo exhausting....

I feel that experience, good experience, is being (on purpose) pushed out the door...
Senior people with decades of knowledge are being replaced by offshore hires (the ones who are just starting their careers)...

I get that budgets matter, but this isn’t sustainable. Cannot work this way!

You can’t swap out deep institutional knowledge and expect things to keep running smoothly.
What’s really frustrating is the communication // or lack of it.

We’re all checking our phones, waiting for updates that never come, while leadership stays quiet.
People are confused, anxious, and in many cases, preparing for the worst without any clear guidance.

It’s hard to stay focused on work when no one knows if they’ll still have a job in a week.

If you’re feeling uneasy, you’re not alone. I am in the same boat.

If you’ve already mentally checked out, I don’t blame you.

everyone’s coping in their own way!!!

I’m just trying to stay grounded & take care of the basics, and be ready-just in case. I kind of have a feeling it's coming

My rep was actually pretty good and I’m still being left standing because the process is not set up for our success

@fm Having been in the 2020 re-org , at least in my BU , was nothing like this one , not even close. From who my rep was from the transparency of positions Incumbents had the upper hand in 2020 , today , roles have been eliminated all together , existing roles changed in either title or job description.

This layoff was exactly how the 2020 transformation was done. I'm baffled why people are surprised by the lack of information, the useless townhalls and the in general poor leadership being displayed. It all stinks.

@ba have you looked at the job market ? what you said, “you are skilled”, isn’t helping.

The job owners made all the decisions. It’s a sh!tty deal that selection reps are making calls to lay off people when they had no hand in not placing the employee

Folks, weare all in the same boat, however, remember you are all skilled and have been hired for your talent, being at or not at Chevron should not define you or honestly impact your self-esteem. You will find a job after Chevron or keep a new role with Chevron, being worried and stressed will not help, remember your skillset is not only applicable to one company.

Good news is you don’t need to focus on work. It’s the weekend and you’ll know after that

Friday 4:00 pm.
I haven’t received ANY sort of information, neither from my manager, nor from my rep, nor from any job owner.
I think this is a very bad omen at this point…

Good luck everyone, this will be my third layoff, I am the living proof that there is life before and after CVX.
