Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Last day if let go?

There seems to be a notion that your last work day is Monday if you let go. I was under the impression you would work until July 31? Where is this coming from?

I was told July 16 would be my last day on the payroll if I'm canned. Forgot if I was supposed to go back to the office, keep working, whatever until then. Not like it matters at that point.

What damage is IT going to do? They can’t even root a laptop

Folks who need to transition their roles will have some time and if not you get 30 days redeployment and is possible they take away away access especially for IT folks as they may be afraid thet they cause the most damage.

You are officially terminated on the last payroll date (July 17), but you will be expected to turn in any equipment and your ID badge immediately upon notification. So yes, if you are left standing Monday is your last day you would be doing work for Chevron.

Your network access will be cut off right at the moment you are told you're left standing, so don't plan on any sayonara emails after you find out. Don't do anything stupid or there will be legal consequences, and Chevron has a zero tolerance policy for such things. It's the one thing Chevron Legal is good at.

If you are ask to stay beyond mid July, you will be given a different final payroll date.
Spoiler alert, on the day you are told there is no position for you, they will walk you to the lobby to turn in your equipment. If you are told at home, your network access will stop before you are called.
This is done to reduce the risk of security breaches if an employee decided to go rogue. There will be a large amount of people terminated next week and if one person sets off a Trojan malware, Chevron will have a major problem. The biggest security risk is an internal threat. Your last day on payroll will be the mid July date they told you in your in scope announcement letter several weeks ago.

@a1 even though I’m field facing, 0% can do my job without network. So this will be fun if they ask us to stay around for a little bit.

So, why don't we have this info from HR on an internal email? and we need to find it here?

I was told that you would lose network access 6/20 if not selected in the selection event. (Lose access on laptop, phone and VPN). Need to down load the Microsoft authentication app to access workday for the PDC that takes place 6/30 or whenever it starts. So I think if you don’t get selected your last day is 6/20 (Friday) while you await PDC results
