I have mixed feelings about that that authorisation app they are asking us to download; it seems invasive. Anyone else feel the same about it?

@151 Why? Unless you are a manager or a director there is no need for a company phone. I don’t understand your logic of asking for a company phone.
@151 I don’t want a company phone and there is no reason why I should need one. A Yubikey is a fraction of the cost of a company phone. Nothing I do is so urgent that can’t wait until I log into work the next day. I refuse to be bothered by work when I’m not working. It’s called boundaries.
@fw Submit a request for a company phone.
@10p why are you disagreeing with a person's decision to not download the app to their personal phone? What's it to you? Are you footing the bill for anything. Why do you care if they use their phone or not.
@ac If you down-vote someone's post because you genuinely disagree with it, how is that considered "trolling" lolol?
@k0 I received it and have the app and I am not near a pulse point.
I have had OKTA for a few years (subsidiary that was put under Carelon). We were required to get it about 2 yrs ago. I got recent email but was confused since I already had it. We were not given any options previously in lieu of personal cell. Since then I was recently given a company cell so now I have 2 versions of OKTA -Carelon and Elevance. Now I am not sure if I should delete the one on my personal cell. I use the company cell when I need to work but am really on PTO or outside of work hours or in a waiting for dr apt. I am 100% remote due to being more than hr commute from office.
@k0 we all got it. I am true remote, over 50 miles as are many of my coworkers.
Did anyone that is a true remote employee (over 50 miles from a pulse point), get this email to download okta? I think this may only apply to remote employees near a pulse point. Which leads me to believe the RTO is near. Wthhhhheck!
@fw+1jxd8ggs9 verify with your manager that it wasn't rejected in accident. Do this in email. If they confirm it was rejected on purpose then reply to that email and ask for a copy of the HR policy on it. I'd push it to the next level manager if you can't get anywhere with it or meet with HR first.
I noticed the email was sent to select EH associates. I wonder why?!?!
Yubikey is $67 freaking dollars. A few on my team have submitted the IT request for one.
The audacity of your manager to deny it!!! If they do put you on the RIF list I hope you have your paper trail ready. I smell retaliation and wrongful termination suit!!!
My manager denied me a YubiKey and I don't have a company issued cell phone. Now want? What are my options without getting on the rif list over this?
Signed,
Really stressed!!
Hi leadership! Are you surprised that the worker bees don’t want to download the okta app to their personal cell phones? Don’t know why as you are all slimy fu--s. Quit downvoting like petty little trolls. You’re supposed to be better than this. Be prepared to shell out tons of cash for Yubikeys you stupid fu--s. Wil all the bull cr-p we’ve experienced in the past 2 years by poor leadership you just need to get over it. You’ll just riff more people to make up for the loss.
HR doesn't care. Manegement doesn't care. Nobody but us cares. This is a violation of your privacy, don't do it!
This is another way to check that people are working in the office. I bet when you do the MFA, it will ping your phone and your location will be tracked to see where you are.
@b1 Forward the denial to HR with a comment that you don't have a company phone and that you aren't the only person that uses your personal phone. That should drive them nuts.
I have paid out of pocket to wfh for almost 20 years. I am not putting work apps on my personal phone. Not happening.
@b5 nope. I don’t have a company phone and don’t use my personal phone for anything work related. When I log off I’m done. The yubikey is to alllow for MFA without the need for an app on your personal phone. I only get emergency broadcast emails from work. Which is very rare. I set clear boundaries I’m not anyone’s bi--h yo be bothered when I’m not working.
I’m not getting the concept. If you’re expected to use your phone for work (email I’m guessing), then you’d not be at your computer, so it would be after hours. What’s the YubiKey doing plugged into your computer where you can get emails anyway.
I’m missing the functionality piece. Just asking as I got the “have a nice life” at the end of February.
@aq No. you are supposed to have the option of getting a Yubikey if you do not want to download the Okta app to your personal cell phone. This MFA requirement is not being rolled out well. I wonder if it’s due to all the riffs, rebadging and offshoring.
@b1 Your manager sounds like a penny pinching id--t. You are supposed to have the option of getting a Yubikey. They need to be reported to HR. Sounds like they are on a power trip. Or they aren’t keeping up with company policy and even know what that is which is just as bad. We do have a lot of stupid managers here.
@b1 that’s awful. You shouldn’t be forced to download the app to your personal phone. I would tell you to report that to HR if I didn’t think it would get you put on a riff list. This company should be prepared to spend a cr-p ton on Yubikeys. EH proved they can’t be trusted.
@an My manager denied my request for YubiKey even though I do not have a company issued cell phone. I only have a personal cell phone...but was told this will not be approved!!!!!!
@aw no work cell phone
Wasn’t given the option of a fob…..we had those 19, 20 years ago when I started working from home. It was do it or hit the bricks.
@an Yes my manager approved my Yubikey. There is a cost involved for your cost center. I believe it was 67 dollars. I don’t have a company phone and don’t want one and won’t download the app.
@aq Yes, because this is an authentication method to sign onto some of the systems
Do you have to download it if you don't use your personal cell phone for work?
@an I am awaiting approval...still have not got this approval
To the posters regarding YubiKey...Did your managers approve this?
Not going to download this app to my personal cell phone. Requested a YubiKey.
@ae It is what you use of you don’t want to use Okta on your phone for multi factor authentication. You put in the side of your laptop. The is a pulse article that mentioned it. We all gonna need to do mfa to use Tesms and Workday in the very near future
What's Yubikeys?
Unless they want to pay my personal cell phone bill not downloading anything for work onto my personal cell. Nope not happening.
It appears that someone is definitely trolling everyone’s posts by giving them negative ratings. Grossss
@a8 what is it for? Have heard of this yet.
There are legal issues when it comes to putting company software on personal phones. Play it safe, just say 'No'.
Who’s the troll downvoting our comments. Must be an executive who now realizes the amount of money they are going to spend on Yubikeys. Sorry you’re not getting a free ride with me downloading the app to my phone. If you guys could manage money better, your butt wouldn’t pucker as much for spending money on new technology. Must be why none of EH technology works very well. Oh and maybe rebadging, riffing and offshoring isn’t working out so great. FU troll!
