if I got hired by HCSC would that stop my severance pay?
my initial resction is no, because, from what I understand, HCSC bought Cigna (or atleast part of Cigna) but now i’m not really sure

No, HCSC is a completely separate company. They bought the Medicare business and the deal closed 3/19, so after that date, even if you got a job working in Medicare, you are still at a different company. Those of us who were with Cigna that were part of the purchase are still in the Cigna system as contractors in order to complete the divestiture, but we are not Cigna employees in any way.

@OP did you get laid off at Cigna and then hired by HCSC? No, that would not have any effect on your severance. HCSC did not buy Cigna they bought the Medicare portfolio. They are seperate companies.
