It probably was for valid reasons but it was a planned notice to deflect the blame away from the ELT when something happened so they can act like the reorg did not cause any distractions. They talked about "Everyone should take Accountability" but they don't take "Accountability" for the events that occur. That article was written as, "we told them to look out, they did not listen".

"Every CEO in America periodically sends out one of those boilerplate "We need to maintain focus on safety" messages."

It wasn't exactly a boilerplate safety message. It was in response to multiple serious near misses likely due to the workforce being severely distracted with a ridiculously chaotic reorg.

Obviously an email doesn't quite cut it! Perhaps some focus on safety over the last few years instead of constant cost cutting initiatives would have been better?

Sadly, this company is headed towards a BP type incident. The CSB found that the Texas City Refinery explosion was preceded by a combination of budget cuts coupled with pressures to increase production. Sound familiar.

They don't care.
They will just increase their salaries and bonuses and continue with restructuring....Many super ENGINEs will probably be built until no US jobs will exist.
It almost feels that they know CVX is going to 0 sooner than later and they just want to "milk" as much as they can....

What a blatant spin job by CVX PR. “See? We told these dummies to be safe. They just weren’t listening. Definitely not our fault.”

If you were ever wondering what the point of those messages are: plausible deniability!
