Has anyone here experienced a restructuring where you are moved to a role that is way out of scope from what you were hired to do? Is this a common occurrence at US Bank where they just fling talent into odd jobs? Appreciate anyone who has been here providing ideas on how to cope/make it work. I am looking for new work, as I’m very insulted.

Line something else up and then tell them that you want to go back to your original role. Don't tell them you want to quit, just say that you feel your new role isn't a good fit and it's not what you're hired for. They may offer a negotiated severance as an effort to let you go the easy way. Also sets you up to get unemployment.
Also if you fear a RIF or immediate layoff coming, pull a FMLA card and buy a few more weeks. It also is a huge headache for the company.
Yup. In same situation. Working hard to get out before my career is totally derailed.
It happened to me. I left. My manager acted so cold and didn’t say goodbye to me.
Like why you surprised? I’m here to many money and grow. I’m sure people notices how poor of a leader he was.
Lost his best workhorse. Oh well..
The bank loves moving people around without discussing. Everyone is a piece on their checkerboard. They desire unhappy employees and their constant reorgs accomplish their goal.
Our entire department is currently going through this. It's very aggravating as our skillsets are not being used and instead now we're doing the work of a role none of us have done before. Leadership as per usual is less than helpful, no communication on anything. Ba--s are getting dropped and I wouldn't be surprised if this was to force us out to avoid layoffs.
I know someone here that this recently happened to. Needless to say they are laying the groundwork to get out of here. This person has been treated terribly since they started years ago, and it’s wild because they are a solid employee. Sh---y management here will run the best employees out. Sad to see how the culture has evolved so poorly.
@OP I have seen this happen multiple times in my 10+ years of existing here, and I have also watched that talent walk right out the door when another opportunity arrives. Shame really. Some of them were stellar people and workers. You’ll figure out what’s best for you. In the meantime do the bare minimum while taking their money. Don’t let this backwards place steal your joy or confidence. It’s not worth it.
It is definitely more prominent here but not unheard of in other large companies.
It happened to my manager. My previous one was promoted , and suddenly I had a new manager based in MN when I am in CA.
He was a good guy but the fit for him made no sense. His team was training him half fthe time. They just wanted a live body and he said as much. He saw the writing on the wall during the layoffs last year and jumped ship and I am happy for him.
I’m going through this right now, and it’s one of the most challenging and belittling professional experiences I have ever had. Still processing the situation. Keeping that paycheck coming in until I can give this place and the political mo--ns here the finger. This place is sloppy AF.
Yes, I coped by saying it’s a pay check. But I am looking for new opportunities.
Yea, I’ve seen it done to other people even “top performers” with the best ratings.
That happened to me! And the person before me too. So yes, it’s common.
It is very insulting.
I left. I coped for awhile then didn’t see the point on top of all of their other policies.
Basically unless if you are in leadership they don’t care.
