I heard around 40 roles have been made redundant in Australia, which would equate to half of the local workforce? Can anyone confirm this? What roles have been impacted?

Yes, around 25% of ILMN jobs in Australia were RIF’d in April. Impacted roles included Marketing, Comms, all Market Development, strategic growth and leadership administration. It was a bloodbath. Rumour is they will be closing the Melbourne office, as no one is ever there and sitting empty most days.
