Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples was going down well before Sycamore took over

There were layoffs in my area starting in 2016. Sycamore came in because Staples was already dying. Of course, they haven't helped, but I am not really sure what would have even turned things around. The Easy button at least takes Staples back to its roots and people of nostalgia. Whether it brings extra business remains to be seen (doubtful), but it is much better than "It's Pro Time" and "Business is human." People aren't miserable where I'm sitting. We have a good team that gets along. We know that this isn't going to be forever, but I'm hanging on as long as I can because I can't find anything similar to what I have now.

Bumped from @dp+1jwsnrav3, well said.

Ron ki-led the company when they wasted 2 years on the merger. They ignored the failing company.

The company lied to everyone even in the runup to 30 by 10.

They lied about their sales figures, lied about their volume and lied about their potential to compete with Amazon. That's why the merger ended up failing and why jaws hit the floor when Staples was sold to Sycamore.

I remember the high-water mark for this company and, each year since, I could see the line rise higher and higher above me. Now, I can see the rocks looming in the water underneath my boat, and I wonder how much longer before they scrape the hull.

@OP it might be wise to consider a "proactive" approach to your career development. Seems to me that it is only a matter of time before the ax will fall!
