Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Don't fear layoffs

When I received my layoff two months ago, I initially panicked. Then I realized it was the best thing that could have happened. Elevance environment had become so toxic that I hadn't even noticed how much it was affecting my health and personal life. Since then, I've had several interviews for positions that actually align with my skills and values. I don't know if I got lucky or the job market is not as bad as some think it is, but it's working out for me.

To anyone else going through this transition: view it as an opportunity to escape a sinking ship and find something better. I'm already seeing possibilities I never would have considered while stuck in that dysfunctional system.

I was laid off a few months ago along with others in my department. At the time, it was devastating. Now I am starting a new job soon and could not be happier. I can now see how toxic that environment was.

Good advice OP. It took a bit of work, but I finally got my RIF package.

Getting full pay to look for a job while retaining health insurance is not the worst thing in the world. I know the whole it’s easier to find a job if you have a job stance but sometimes difficult to give full focus on finding another job while you are working.

I agree. I also panicked initially, perhaps for a week. I then realized it was a blessing; I was able to take a deep breath and reset.

(Yes, I realize people are in various financial situations.)
