Mark 2033 on your calendar. That's when the TengizChevron lease expires. Chevron is already working on renewing. If they do renew, it will not be the incredible deal they got back in 1993. In 1993, Kazakhstan had just left the Soviet Union and were "naive". The incredible terms carried Chevron through some rough times and bumbling leadership. Next time will be a lot less lucrative.
How important is Tengiz to Chevron? If production stopped or faltered for more than 24 hours, , the TCO Operations Manager would get a phone call from the second in command.

If you are holding CVX as a majority of your 401k, you are one Deepwater Horizon or one failed Hess acquisition away from wiping out your retirement.
Are you holding a majority of Chevron stock in your 401k? I’m a CVX koolaid drinker and even that is a bad idea. Especially with our current Lack of Leadership Team in place.
The articles all mention leadership failure (such as Hess)…but here we are cutting jobs at the lower level. Go figure.
