If you get laid off and get a severence, do they take a 401k deposit off of that last severence check?

in my case, 401(k) deductions were not withdrawn from the final severance check— I didn’t request any changes.
If you dont want 401k taken out you need to adjust it or it will be pulled out. Same goes with the left9ver checks and pto you are owed
