Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Carelon is Toxic

Get out while you can. This place is falling apart at the seams. If you work in PI especially CCA…get out it’s a sinking ship. It may seem like they are rapidly hiring but they have built no safe guards, did not analyze risk, develop the new platform that could adequately send letters, request medical records…very prehistoric processes. The Staff VP is pushing for automation that won’t help and has no resourceful ideas on how to better manage the disaster she created. Providers are not receiving finding letters with appeal rights by the thousands. The system isn’t uploading records correctly and pushing through the system. It’s horrible everyday. The CoC is unobtainable and a year from now Executive leadership will pull the plug and send what’s left oversees and remains will go to a vendor. The process for hiring and filling back fills is extremely complex and takes months to get a posting for a role even a backfill can take 6-9 months before approved it’s insanity. Too many hands in the pot and Shared Services has made a mess out of getting LOI’s sent, medical records and letters not sure how they come back at this point with over 10k in records behind and or missing!!

@fw Why are you posting on this site instead of seeking help for your mental health? There's nothing anyone can do for you hear. You have insurance coverage, use it!!!

The VP for Carelon Payment Integrity MG is a good old boy and a smooth talker it’s why his minions like reporting to him and how he keeps his job beyond me. What’s even worse is the C Suite above him the EVP and President of Carelon Payment Integrity...PH and JP…wouldn’t shake your hand and would close a door in your face anytime. It’s a sweatshop environment full of toxic leadership passing down unrealistic expectations and pink pony hopes.

PI (Payment Integrity) is a disaster and Leadership is less than resourceful and disrespectful. I’m looking for new opportunities outside of the big Payors at Hospitals and start ups. All these PI LinkedIn posts “we are growing” with new roles are almost heart breaking to think people would apply here it’s awful. Then posts about Elevance being in the top 50 in Community support it’s a tax write off! We get volunteer days because it’s a credit for the Company and for some regulations..it’s not out of the kindness of the companies heart.

@fw You don’t need a reference anymore from this place. In fact I think policy is to not give references but just confirm dates you were employed by Elevance Health. Any references you would use in a job hunt is people you choose to give said company.

@fw it would help if we could all take a deep breath and stop being so dramatic. No one’s career is over. Yes it might be hard to find a new job but you will find a new job eventually. If you get riffed, your career isn’t over either. Sometimes getting riffed is the best thing that ever can happen to a person. It may not feel that way at the time but in hindsight many people say it was the best thing that ever happened. I do believe we all need to change our mindset and start setting boundaries. Easier said than done I know but you have to to protect your mental health. You are not your job! I know my director says bi--hy things. I remind myself it is not a reflection on me but her, I try to not let it work me up and if I get riffed again then so be it. You have no control of it and you did nothing wrong. It’s just the world we are living in.

I've been searching for a new job for several months without success. The increasing pressure and abuse at my current workplace, compounded by impossible deadlines, are severely impacting my mental health. I'm concerned I'm nearing a breakdown. Does anyone have advice? I just am worried I won't be able to get a good reference from here if I'm riffed and my career will be over.

I’m leaving CCA as fast as possible the interviews are picking up. Leadership is rude, disrespectful, mock employees, and unless you are on the business side in contracts or sales you are considered cow do-g. Contracts and Sales are the golden children. If you are a nurse auditor know your worth and find better opportunities..I’m done.

C Suite leader corruption and greed are hurting Org’s within Carelon. They know our goals are not obtainable but it allows them the upper hand to line pockets and sweep the rugs when necessary.

CCA (DRG, Implants, HBA, Specialty) they were dealt a horrible hand with the new platform their hands are tied and Shared Service can’t keep up due to prehistoric processes. SNAIL Mail is the only option? Their Staff VP has no idea about actual claim processes and auditing she’s too engrossed in contracts which the VP should be handling. The CoC is will not even be close to being met this year. There will be even less bonuses and merit raises next year. We are going to bust our a## spinning our wheels trying to get through the volumes making larger messes and in the end be absorbed and pushed out to the Philippines and vendors.

Complex Clinical Audit is a mess. It will only get worse as volumes are not being moved through the new platform correctly. It’s going to crash and burn as more and more providers push back at not receiving letters and inaccurate refund requests. Using a vendor to handle all audit processes was a BAD idea from the beginning.

Why do people call it Careless - because they do - UNLESS it is a high profile account with a high profile member who is unhappy about something - then the wheels turn - but for the remainder of the members they support - can go pound sand. You cannot talk to anyone directly in that dept and they don't understand the meaning of the word URGENT or ESCALATION. Worst dept to work with ever. All of this is well known has been going on for years and no action - why - Careless

Coc targets are joke and have always been unattainable. The only way we could hit the target is if we just denied everything. It’s just fake dollars being pushed around.
