Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

DOs and DON'Ts for the day you are terminated

DOs:
Do review your termination package and ask your manager questions

Do reflect on the fact that you had a great run at one of the best companies ever

Do spend time with your friends and family.

DON'Ts:
Don't try and second guess whether your performance was to blame or if it was a mistake because you can't change it now.

Don't start looking at job boards. Wait a day or two. You need time to grieve.

Don't blame your job lose on DEI policies. Yes it is true that US has adverse impact quotas, but you can't know for sure that this is the reason you were let go.

Don't open the bottle. Once you start drinking, it will be hard to stop. Save that for another day.

Id--t managers at Intel!!! They never learn, always trailing the competition. they make billions and never invest in developing the best innovating and proven engineers. go cheap and you will be left in the dust!!!

DO enjoy the fact that you are financially ahead of where you would otherwise be if you were still working at Intel, and will remain so for quite awhile.

DON’T cut off contact with all your soon-to-be-ex-colleagues.

DO cut off contact with the soon-to-be-ex-colleagues who are jerks.

Don't say anything you might later regret. Burnt bridges typically stay burnt. Try to stay reasonably positive, if you truly are bummed about moving on.

Do shread all of your past performance reviews, status reports and OKRs.. either a) they will be so positive that you can't understand how the he-l you could be fired, or b) they will have clear pointers to what was going wrong and you never fixed it.

DON'T hang around with others that were laid off. The negative vibe spirals out of control and it can be quite depressing. Seen it happen.

DO head to the unemployment office asap, there will be a large Intel crowd and it will overwhelm their ability to process so many people.

DON'T worry about boxing up your stuff, it's terrible to carry that out. Wait a day or so.
