Well, you spend your life worried about the next layoff which is always around the corner.
Lack of job security creates a lot of stress for people. Not worth it considering 2% to 3% raises.
@OP if you like 2 to 3% raises for life. It is a less than cost of living adjustment and the call it a merit rasie and do performance evaluations to earn you less than cost of living adjustment you will have less spendable income 10 - 15 years later
