MCBU HSE jobs cut 40-50%

Depending on your team, hse has been cut 40-50%. Even with some teams disappearing all together. Doesn’t feel like the right thing to do.

Don’t worry…the HSE folk, who 6 months ago would openly state that working in the field was beneath them, will displace the current field staff because they have more visibility as meeting room queens and PowerPoint makers.

I am all for building accountability structures into the minds of people that actually do the work (I e. Ops org, drilling org, etc ).

I don't see how safety will be harmed by halving the number of unknowledgeable HSE staff who are there to fill out useless paperwork.

Start requiring WSR’s and DSR‘s sign off to be personally financially responsible for all incidents and you’ll see how fast people’s attitude towards HSE changes. You wouldn’t be able to fa-t without getting a permit.

"doesn't feel like the right thing to do."

I agree. They should have cut the HSE org by far greater than 40-50%.

They added little to no value, and in most cases they stopped work and productivity.
