@23c calm down, my God. Windstream IS a burning cesspool as they laid off amazing people and continue to make Stupid a** decisions. Those decision make for a sinking ship. I still get calls from customers who are jumping ship to move over to my place of business because customer service su-ks!! Windstream su-ks.
It's a lot better to find a new position and leave. There's no benefit to being RIF'd now. You get virtually no service time severance, only a payout of your unused vacation days. So, figure something out. Use your personal and optional holiday time to schedule interviews or preparing to move or what nots. Don't touch vacation time. Then leave with enough notice that HR can't ding you, should you find a better position with the company later on down the line.
If you're RIF'd and fully separate, I suspect that you're also automatically PIP flagged. Meaning without a backing manager, your future applications will automatically be red flagged..
So just leave on your terms.
Just give it time… You along with everyone else will get this wish.

You are so right, Windstream is totally gonna sue thelayoff to get your IP address. That makes tons of sense and isn't at all ridiculous.
People that say stuff on here like this are stupid. Don’t count yourself out yet..IP addresses are tracked on this site no matter who your internet provider is. Use any Windstream network connected app, like Teams, Outlook, Dayforce, the company has your IP, this site stores your IP….whether it’s from Spectrum, AT&T, Hargrove, Cox, or Kinetic. Google ads and Geofencing can also track your location down to the address. They all have your IP too. There is a social media policy too. Good luck!

@15m my coworker of 17 years was shown the door. Good at what he did, customers would ask for him specifically. He created processes that were shared with repair to speed up troubleshooting. Didn't matter.
It's all metrics. You're just a row in a spreadsheet of information.
