Make sure you talk to headhunters or someone at the company to see what they need, then fashion your resume (no, don't lie, just play up your skills that they could use) to make you look irresistible to them. Quality, not quantity.

If you're leaning on public job applications, you're doing it wrong.
Warm-up that network and see what their needs are. Most independents or banks are looking to add a person if they're good.
