Are we required to give 2 week notice?

I finally get to quit this insane company! Does anyone know the notice policy? I can’t find it on sparq. If I don’t give a full 2 week notice would I be marked as ineligible for rehire? I want to make sure any future employment verifications here don’t show “not eligible for rehire”.

By “eligible for rehire flag” ‘my concern is about employment verifications, not concern about eligibility for getting rehired by UHG.
Some companies definitely have a policy if you don’t give a two week notice you will be flagged as “not eligible for rehire” and when another company- like one who has offered you a position- verifies your employment they could very well see any “not eligible for rehire” as negative and rescind the offer.

That said, after researching this my understanding is that these days most large companies don’t show any such indication to external companies because of risk of complaints/actions that it interferes with someone’s right to work. They simply verify employment start and end dates.

UHG does not state anywhere that they have any policy about this except, as previous poster said, they want a minimum of 3 days in GSS and there is standard language around transitioning work.

I did decide to give a notice for a couple of different reasons. Mainly because I was getting pulled into some projects that have a super negative, drama field environment unnecessarily. It was very worth it to me to let them know I’m leaving to avoid that.

Tell them you are leaving to work for a competitor and they will cut you loose. You don't have to specify which one. I did this.

I gave a notice mine was actually 3 weeks because my new job was starting later so I could get that extra week while I waited it’s not mandatory it’s just the proper thing to do especially if you ever want to return in the future and sometimes as a reference for a new job the like to see you left a two weeks notice to your previous employer

Don't worry about giving notice. They are to busy stealing to even notice you did not give notice.

I would. Proper thing to do. You have a reputation to uphold, and it can give the employer time to make alternative arrangements. They very well may ask you to leave that day anyway and take pay in lieu of working out the 2 weeks.

No employment is at will so either party can say say bye immediately. The 2 week notice is an outdated concept. What are they going to do in two weeks to make up for you leaving absolutely nothing! They can send you a surprise meeting invite say you are done and cut access with a mouse click and ghost you. Nobody inside the company is going to say anything other than you worked here from start date to end date since they are afraid of litigation if anything else is said. They only risk if you change your mind and wish to return in some capacity in most cases odds of that are zero in this day and age. It is all transactional reputation is an outdate concept. How fast and cheap can you do things is all that matters

I personally will not be giving 2 weeks notice, but I will not be coming back.

I know someone who gave less than a week's notice, but was never coming back.

I don't think employment verification ever discloses to outside employers not eligible for rehire. The company doesn't want lawsuits.

I believe Employment Verification is done by a 3rd party company: theworknumber dot com. Go to the company's employment verification 3rd party company to see what is shared.

No one here knows that answer; that said, it's best to leave on good terms in case you consider boomeranging back in the future or do business with the company.

It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it - a damn good quote.
