Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Another Core Week: more stealthy layoffs, or more public cuts?

Getting super nervous here at the office. Everyone wondering if this is the core week the axe falls. We know there have been surgical layoffs during each core week so far (well because it’s quarter end, not because it is core week). It feels that the collapse in sales in the stores is not abating. A reckoning feels due. Or the uniform negativity and bleak office chitchat has me shell shocked. What is the pulse elsewhere?

Hope everyone makes it through in one piece.

Looks like it is time to set alarm clocks, dress in something other than sweats and start working 8 hour days. I feel sorry for NOBODY who works from home and gets laid off

Ha ha, there is a reason they call it work. The days of Target sponsored work from home welfare are done!

They fired the chief legal officer or she quit in less than a year. Red flag.

The response to dismal sales with no change in sight is to create a committee of executives to talk about efficiency. That is the exact OPPOSITE of efficiency. It shows they have no clue what the he-l to do.

The rise of India to C Suite today is indicative of where the future of the company lay: Indian professionals selling our Cambodian apparel and Vietnamese furniture at TJ Max/Kmart style stores in a country on the opposite side of the planet from them.

Time to hit the exits IMHO.

lol nobody who is impactful will be automating themselves out of work...we're just going to ramp up efficiency and get rid of the deadweight crying about having to get out of their PJs and come to the office a few times a week... get real. think of it like DOGE but within Target where those who can justify their impact and compensation get to stay on...if you're just updating a formula within an excel spreadsheet or changing the color of a button on a webpage then it might be wise to update your resumes...

Everyone is looking for new work. Let this guy in these comments cheering about doing all his work using AI automate himself out of his job. That is what the company wants. Use the AI? Then you can go and they can keep the AI.

They are already laying off in India as most of those tasks are rote, routine, Salesforce work or grunt-forcing code. All sent to AI. Morale is horrendous at that office

👏👏👏 exciting times tbh… trimming the fat and the heavy investment into AI will improve the efficiency per employee.
