Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Billions in profit

This company made almost 18,000 million dollars PROFIT in 2024. This is after expenses such as employee compensation. Maybe in 2025 the company will make 12,000 million dollars. This is still a massive amount of money. It fathoms me how these failures have the nerve to say we did good.. "but not good enough" and then decide to axe all their A* employees that actually made it possible in the first place to save a few billion? Reality check when they are in the negatives and start reporting losses. What a bunch of d-mbasses!!

Chevron investors care about Total Shareholder Return (TSR), not simply profit. TSR is the combination of share price appreciation and dividends. CVX uses free cash flow to pay the dividend and buybacks to support share price. TSR in 2024 was 6.1% and 15% for three years, well behind XOM.

“18,000 million dollars PROFIT” 👀

Bruh, that’s not how we format financial values in America.

Sounds like you have a severe case of butt-hurt. Since fathoms is not a verb, I can only surmise you mean you’ve been penetrated by a broomstick that’s 6 feet long. That’s got to hurt, and bad!!!

Are cost structure is high because of our work processes and horrible leadership. Senior management is incapable of making difficult decisions without an oversupply of information.

Profit is irrelevant if our cost structure is several factors larger than our competitors. How our cost structure got to this point is a different question…

Hilarious how EB gave us green ratings on the scorecard for financial metrics - how are we supposed to beat our competitors if leadership doesn’t put forward a competitive plan? Hmm…
