I have heard people who are not technical but good at reporting status by taking credit from others got jobs at Intel for an upgrade. There were also people who changed job to other companies from Intel and still tried to delegate work to and collect status from others to report in meetings. When I read posts on this board, my heart ached. I really wish Intel can change its culture to the better. The current culture is not just impacting Intel, it is also changing other semiconductor companies.

I was with you until you called yourself "The Ace." You belong at Intel.
I went to a top 20 engineering school. At one point I was in a class of 100 or so students on a completely level playing field taking a test on math, programming, physics, or electronics. I consistently was in the top 2 std deviation in these classes. I can tell u for a fact the ppl Intel makes me work with are jokes.
Intel management and tech leadership are treated with extreme skepticism if not entirely blacklisted at Apple.
Depends on the role I guess, I would say it is the role of a technical manager to collect the status from those doing the work and appropriately communicating that to senior management and PMs. If ICs don't like that then go ahead become a Technical Manager instead
Practically all of the Data Center validation leadership at AMD are ex Intel folks who "rolled into town" and started barking orders and telling the AMD folks how to do their jobs. From what I hear, the AMD folks are growing sick of the arrogant ex Intel folks.
This was true of my director, he ascended because he made a political settlement with the guy he screwed. Thick as thieves they were both able to profit in the end despite the failure of the BU. I think this is what people mean when they talk about a "toxic workplace".
