Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Job Bank

I find it interesting that of 530 jobs available on the job bank, 1/5 of those are offshore. Doesn’t this go against everything our government is trying to fix? Aren’t we supposed to keep jobs here?

They are offshoring to Carelon global solutions in the Philippines and India. For cheap labor.

I'm surprised it is only 1 out of 5 jobs listed offshore.

Of the entire internal staff of the company (close to 100K associates), 30%+ reside offshore now. Crazy...

Think Trump and DOJ know? Whistleblowers out there?

I find it quite interesting and frustrating that transparency, integrity, care, etc. are supposed to be important as a company, but it apparently doesn't apply to their members since Elevance Health has not informed their members they've shared their personal health and private information to offshore. Social security number, banking account numbers, etc. to some of the biggest scammer countries. It's also quite frustrating for members who call and can't understand the reps they're speaking to & it's especially hard for older members. It's just wrong on so many levels.

I once had roosters crowing on my call. I called after 6pm for a service matter, but when I asked the time there, it was 12 hours different from EST.
The rep spoke clear English and addressed what I called about, but had that been me onshore with roosters having a concert, that would not have been acceptable.

Why don’t we as consumers have the right to contest this? Why is the norm to just su-k it up and deal with the status quo? I invest in the Stock purchase plan and as a shareholder it appalls me that this is acceptable.

I just work here but personally I am very unhappy having my private health info handled offshore but the snake is out of the basket at this point. I don't know how to stop it from continuing.

What’s hilarious is…
I just had a conversation with a member the other day where she said “and I was on the phone with customer service for 3 hours…. The rep said her name was Bethany…. She didn’t sound like a Bethany…. She had a hard time understanding me.”

It was a rep in the Philippines.

Imagine if the members knew all of this stuff was being handled in the Philippines instead of here in the US.

Explain this to me:
“Some jobs are created as proxy to process green cards of H1Bs.”

We’ve already had data breaches.

ELV and slimy leadership team has found loopholes to have offshore member data overseas. Maybe we need to have some huge breech for regulators to pay attention. They don’t care that members call customer service reps only to hear chickens and goats I. The background of a cs rep they can’t understand at all. What part of this company doesn’t care don’t you understand. Corporations are not people but they can lobby like they are which is why we are in this mess. It’s only going to get worse until something bad happens on a grand scale.

Hold up, we manage government business and federal business units. Doesn’t the consumer who chooses Anthem/Elevance to manage their Medicare advantage plans have vested interest in their highly protected information from being offshored? Everyone talks about how scams via phone, email, addresses are being targeted lately. I think it puts the most vulnerable population, which is the elderly, at risk for offering their personal information, particularly to the Philippines to India to Israel to Puerto Rico.

ELV isn’t a government run company. This company will do whatever the shareholders want. The shareholders are greedy a--holes that only care about money. They aren’t any regulations preventing this company from moving job offshore.
