For the field techs out there. I keep getting asked to look at overtime and BB et al are OBSESSED with the bucket capacity.
I pointed out that JonS and dispatch will just issue proactive tickets until capacity is full. If anything takes more time than the 'estimate' they provide it starts pushing overtime. Also, I'm pretty sure you dudes have other stuff to do (meetings, CPE recovery, warehouse cr-p, etc).
I was told to focus on capacity because that is what JonS and BB want to talk about in meetings.
Now we are laying off techs? When we are already having record OT because we obviously don't have enough headcount and are mismanaging what we have.
Never a good sign when you're laying technicians off. We're too thin as it is in my area.
ILEC & CLEC splitting up. Again. How many times have we played this game, only to reverse it? We're one big happy company. No, wait, back to your neutral corners. Now come in and hug. Now back to your neutral corners. They don't know what they want this company to be.
Seeing some changes at ops manager level, but can't say if it was their choice or if they were volun-told to take a different position in the company.
Just remember, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

If they were smart they would target those that have no clue about anything and send them packing! Sadly if they get anyone it will be someone that’s needed to keep things going!
