Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Updates on this disaster?

Setting the sale this morning was a headache since we had to use our phones. My phone went from 100% to 9% in just a couple hours.

Around 10:30, the price verify app starting pricing things but it wouldn’t scan clearance correctly. STH still wasn’t up and wasn’t up when I left at 2. So we’ll see what happens later today. We were told it was supposed to be running later on today but we’ll see.

I don’t care what happens or doesn’t happen as long as still get a paycheck this Friday…that’s what I’m more concerned about. I don’t know why the little devil on my shoulder is telling me not to hold on to hope..

Belk is literally falling apart 😒

Why is this company so ridiculous? They keep cutting hours, and for what reason? Having ONE person close the entire ladies’ department on a Friday—handling all the customer returns, fitting rooms, and go-backs—alone after 4:45PM? That’s beyond unreasonable. The manager’s response? “Corporate didn’t give us the hours.”

Make it make sense: the store is packed on Fridays, but they only schedule one closer? Meanwhile, on a random Monday, there are 3–4 people scheduled to close? The priorities are completely backwards.

They keep saying paychecks will arrive as normal, but I'll believe it when I see it. Could just be damage control to prevent walkouts.

The associates using their personal phone to set the sale should get some kind of compensation from Belk. That would be the right thing to do but probably won’t happen.
