Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Productivity

Has anyone else lost interest in caring anymore? There is ZERO incentive to go above and beyond. Sure, I'm silently quitting like many others. We have lost faith in upper management a long time ago. The only option at this point is to jump ship or sink before the holiday pink slips make their rounds. It's a shame.

Uhhh no. I don't want to be on the list of "who do you want to get rid of because they are dead weight?" Keep doing your job and collecting your paycheck. It's not a career, it's a job and for now pays the bills. Keep working as much overtime as you can, if you qualify. We go thru this every year or so, there is nothing that anyone can do to change what is already in the works. You are either ALREADY on the list, or you're not. Complaing about it isn't going to change their minds. Stop stressing about it, they don't care if you lose your income. Just keep taking YOUR paychecks as long as they want to keep paying you.

Quiet quitting? I hate that somehow this is being normalized. This is victim mentality. Don't accept this as normal for you and your life. How does that help you, are you happy, excited to come to work, excited that this is where you are using your precious time, the only resource that you can never create more of? Chose empowerment thinking. If you are unhappy, what are you going to do to be happy? If it is the current job or team...How about actively, look for another opportunity, something that will serve you? Activation is the opportunity. Maybe on another team? Maybe outside of the org? Don't spend a minute being unhappy because of a job. A job is just a way to earn money. It's not your life. Your life happens when you are the one in the driver's seat (or being driven to where you want to go). The key is, you are in control.

"quiet quitting? who has time! my director would be all over that. my group is swamped including her!"

Why on god's green earth would your director be all over that??? It's just a job. Does she not have a life, a family, etc....It's a stupid for profit con job. You're not the owner, the partner, the trustee, the board member, etc..etc... You're likely swamped because they refuse to hire enough employees. Say no to free work, and or extra work. Is your director mentally ill because work addiction/corporate simping is a very serious problem.

"Quiet quitting"--you're working your payscale. A general contractor does not build an extra bathroom to prove to the owner he's going above and beyond...neither should you. Work your salary and please GO HOME.

This is another anecdotal of how we were abused and used in the US empire:
Just finished a project at work. Worked multiple 12 - 16 hour days to meet the deadlines as the only developer on the team. I am a junior, no real support, no one else knew this specific codebase. I had to figure it out all by myself. After I finished the project I asked for time off (which I hadn't used yet for the entire year) and they said no. They need you on the next project immediately. They will work you until you die if you let them. Say no to inconsiderate american managers!

If you no longer feel inspired or feel you can make any real impact, why not look elsewhere? I would never stay at a job I didn't like. It takes too much from you. It's 40 hr minimum a week.

Had this conversation with another team mate. It was Friday, it was busy, and some people weren't working as hard as they could be. She's over there quietly fuming while doing what needs to be done. After a few minutes she says something about people not working hard to me. I look at her and say "Is it your name on the door?" She says no. I then say "Where's the director right now?" She says "he's on vacation in Europe" I look at her and say "exactly. He's enjoying Paris and it's his name on the door."

Stop working so hard. We have very few if any real employment rights as every other Western country. Bleep it. The place is tanking and they're selling propaganda to the masses of imbeciles.
