Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Leave

Why would anybody still be working for DXC? Have some self respect and leave, you have permission. There is a better life waiting for you, you simply need to walk out the door and then never look back.

Why leave? you stay and take free technical Education , don’t work hard at all and get paid 401k match , vacation time. As long as you don’t care about pay increases it’s a good gig. I made 96 grand a year for over 5 years and didn’t do much

Anywhere else I would probably be useful another 10 years. Not at DXC. They write you off as a hasn't left, won't leave. Doesn't justify a pay rise pretty much as soon as you join. I'd love to go, but equally while they pay me to muck about.... I've lost all will to contribute or do more. Its pretty boring some weeks. But I've been less stressed since I decided to stop fighting and just sit and wait.

Last 5 years I am getting zero assignments from managment. I am looking for the opportunities and ideas to contribute to the company, and if I find something interesting my boss says that is great idea and I keep myself busy for a year or so... Then cycle repeats. In the meanwhile I work from home, take care of kids, do my hobbies, do trainings to keep myself up to date. Why should I leave? If they lay me off then I would happily pocket European severance and find other job as I am still not too old.

If DXC wanted anything out of us they'd pay for it. They obviously don't sell anything other than that luke warm feeling that there is some staff available to solve an I.T. problem should a client need it. The reality of course, everyone lost their skillset years back, and there will be some excuse or other as to why it's no longer possible should that day ever come. It's can't possibly last, but as you can be sure there won't be able to help if you let us all go - that's why we're all still here.

I've already retired. I've just not quit.

and that earlier quote perfectly sums up DXC. A last stopping place for senior execs to milk the system, hire their losers-at-other-proper-companies friends, and pocket bonuses for 2-3 years for achieving absolutely nothing, and for the large majority of the rest of the staff its a transition-to-retirement work-from-home

I’m another very close to retirement nearly OAP long time WFH employee and it really makes no sense to look for another job in my position.
So I do what I have to, don’t rock the boat, complete all the work assigned to me and basically keep below the radar.
I also stay because the team I’m in includes colleagues similar to me and we get along very well but there’s no one younger than mid 40’s with us.
Am I capable of doing more, absolutely with my big six background, but as others have said DXC su-ks the life out of anyone who shows any spark or imagination and you just settle into a drifting along mentality.
However, if I was even 10yrs younger I would aim to get into another role asap and I would definitely not recommend DXC to any younger person as a place to build a career.
In the 12 yrs I’ve been here I don’t know anyone who’s been given a substantive promotion, more responsibility but no increase in job level.
I feel sorry for our clients especially the public sector ones as they’re paying for our services with our taxes, who may not be getting what they think they’ve purchased but you have to go along with it up to a point.
Good luck to anyone who stays and I’m just hoping I can keep going and my mouth shut for another two years max.

@an+1jtspa806 Theres a lot of stress from out of date processes. Systems that should just work, but don't. Colleagues who can't remember what you told them an hour ago let alone last week. Management who clearly don't understand IT. But having stopped caring about all that. I agree it's not that bad, and I can be as bloody useless as everyone else and still get a salary.

I don't mind my cr-p salary. In return for WFH, little consequence for not doing much. I do mind that they pay colleagues more to do even less. That's why I gave up helping and also joined the do as little as possible club. I've already retired. I've just not quit.

The current IT market is shocking, WFH not that much stress. Don’t have to travel. It’s not as bad as some people make out

I´ve got less than 3 years left until retirement, sitting in homeoffice and doing precisely nothing!
