Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Some people just keep failing upward

It’s wild how some folks stick around for years without knowing what they’re doing. They dodge every layoff, too. In a normal place, they’d have been gone ages ago, but here they coast along just fine. Says a lot about how things really work. Maybe skill doesn’t matter as much as we think.

@etw Welcome to F5 where you have multiple leadership positions like Directors,Sernior managers for every 20 employees. A bunch of status checkers while IC's are completely ignored and laid off . F5 Digital is a classic example

@2wc I had an Indian Director. I called him out on false reporting of high quality of the bigip next product test results. He is still there and I'm not.

@7bs now they will control and measure productivity by number of produced lines of code. They fetishise copilot and other "AI" BS and claim huge "productivity gain". As writing code was the same as engineering. Funny, those behind the claims never wrote successful software products. Clueless people claim to know how to steer the company. Maybe towards icebergs.

@OP absolutely right. skill doesn't matter. just have to talk like you know whats going on. And you are fine in releasing products that are really buggy but saying they will be fixed later (which they are not). Then blame someone else.

@2wc It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day. You are correct about the AI corporate poison.

Remove all the Indian managements at every level ( in US). Then all the sick politics will go away. These management at every level built up regional groups and take revenge on anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Many of the good and talented engineers were removed by those sloppy, sick managements.

I hate to be the one to finally break it to you, but it's not a nativity or politics. Your leader meets the criteria of a psycho. Nothing he shares or says is real. It's a very well maintained false character to make people believe he's a caring, different, good guy. He triangulates women on social media to make his wife jealous. He particularly likes to triangulate the former F5 CPO still to this day and she hasn't worked at f5 for two years now. She can't break the love bo----g spell I guess and still supports this guy. This is what a covert narcissist does, I suggest you read about it. If he's such a supporter of women, why didn't he give his own daughter an internship opportunity? She's still open to work on LI. When I quit I told the management team that actions speak louder than words. They still did the wrong thing and made my words their rallying cry for the next year. They even made personal quotes on the DEI website page that were actually my EXACT words to them. The man does not care about you, the business, the customers; only himself. And I don't think it's lost on anybody that his stock price strategy has been based on manipulating numbers with lay offs vs actual sales. Pay attention to the actions, not the words.

“ got promoted in the recently reorg”

Happens in every org. “Leaders” f… up, got promoted, and get more $$$. That’s all what they do. Then, they jump ship and the story repeats itself. Only fools believe that management (at all levels) has some skills besides talking BS.

I couldn't agree more with this statement, so I will add some colour with real examples.

Shawn Wormke set unrealistic goals for NGINX, literally fu*cked all NGINX staff's bonuses and got promoted in the recently reorg... Not even mentioning the bad business strategy and awful allocation of resources to the AI Gateway project, which was a disaster for the other teams in the company, being dry of resources.

If you are talking about management you are perfectly correct. What they do is they announce quarterly results and then pretend they know what they are talking about. Absolute nonsense without any consequences apart getting $$$ regardless of the company financial results.
