I think the plan in some departments is just to micromanage us until we quit in frustration.

I’d rather not get too specific about what is being done in this case. It might identify the area this is coming from. Unless it’s an actual layoff I don’t think it’s a good idea to pin down. Let’s just say it is a whole section of a major area in claims that is feeling the pinch.
The outsourced people aren’t licensed and they can’t do much, but it’s obvious they are trying to thin down our ranks without laying anyone off. Which is pretty cheesy. Low class sharp business practice that victimizes employees, IMO
And in other depts management only seems to care about the people in India. The people in America have become second-class employees. Doesn't seem to matter if we're doing quality work. Hey "leadership", if you don't care, why should we?
What type of micromanagement and metrics are you seeing?
Yep, create a toxic workplace and eventually talent (now perceived solely as cost) will flee.
Well I’m not quitting. Make them work for it and at least get your unemployment compensation.
That’s exactly what they’re doing. Using metrics outside of MBO to have a reason to write you up. Make you quit - no severance needed when they finally shut the department down.
