A joke of an organisation.

You could tolerate the cr-p pay, the cr-p technology, cr-p requirements, now all of a sudden they're asking people to churn out a feature with all the above, with no support, no testing while being tethered to a junior developer, in less than a week!

If you can afford to wait for redundancy and take the time to find another job, hold out, it's coming.
If not, you are incredibly naive if you are not actively looking for somewhere else.
Cuts are coming, they'll want the heads off book by end of Q2 to start eating into the completely unachievable expense savings target set by Zulfi.
I'd expect majority of ANI impacted o be informed by end of May at latest.

Ah yes....QA can be absorbed by developers. The same mentality that said, 'Project and program management, along with the scrum master and team coaching can be done by the DPM or anybody on the team, really. What do we need scrum masters for?'

So as a DPM, you are 'the CEO of your digital product' but we as management refuse to give you the team set up or structure the work to be able to be the CEO as really what you are the arbiter of pi----g matches between various middle management roaches with their own agenda and priorities. Oh, and the single the throat to choke when you don't meet the deadlines we already committed to without your input.

Now as an engineer-your focus is paired programming and quality code. We've put you through meaningless, expensive training with a vendor and poof you are now ready to produce in one week sprints. We even have a meaningless piece of paper called an OBD certification to cover the fact that underlying architectural issues remain completely unaddressed in addition to the organizational overhead we've thrown in front of you to be able to deliver. And now, you can just test too. Rest assured, we'll fry you if something blows up though, just like we used to do to the testers.

And the people making these d-mb a-s decisions are never held accountable. He-l, Allstate, promotes them. A company whose entire management philosophy is the Peter Principle.

There is not one person that trusts the leadership of this company. There is a lot if fake smiling and nodding but everyone knows what these snakes are capable of.

Remember to put yourselves ahead of this company.

As one of the cohort canned in October 2023 I just want to say it stung at the time and obviously there was a lot of worry involved. Now I can say I'm absolutely 100% glad it happened. If it didn't I'd still be there, still looking over my shoulder waiting for the axe man, still dying of cringe watching the obsequious ar-e kissing and Pollyanna declarations of an amazing job well done while thinking this is a car crash. Best of luck to the class of 25. Great things await.

Sure who needs testing and security? It's not as if we're a company that deals with personal and financial details. It's not as if our customers need us when they're at their lowest. It's not as if we've only one reputation to lose. We're run by complete id--ts at this stage who think an insurance company should be run like a mobile phone app start up, complete and utter id--ts.

Locally we're even worse, Drone McK is a puppet and only in position to be the person to switch off the lights when we eventually close down. Seems at least JH had some integrity, seen what was coming and left.

This idea that 'QA can be absorbed by devs' i have yet to see work across several teams without the product suffering. There are different mindsets for both. Much like the 'we don't need scrum masters' argument, there will be regret at end of this.

We lost some good people today. Great at their jobs. Just wrong team at wrong time. Good luck to them.

Zulfi and Kamal can f--k right off. USA and India pandering to them in the surveys but ANI calling it how is it. Remember this when the survey comes. Joke of a company.

@ae+1jtka1m6x: the town hall isn't hindsight. It was obvious at the time that our CEO was letting us know the future was looking grim, and it's not over. All that talk about buying into the project? That's not empty talk. There are eyes on ANI. Zulfi and Kamal want "yes men" and our survey results are not showing us as "yes men". That's why McKeown pretty much said "buy in or leave".

It's difficult to be positive when we're haemorrhaging customers with poor retention yet senior leaders hamper our ability to deliver good quality applications at every step. And recent cuts to security and testing aren't going to make it any easier, either.

tl;dr: it not getting better any time soon

There are a lot of things going on in ANJ, but as always, we never know anything. Just sitting back waiting and always watching.

Allstate brass are compulsive liars...all of them. They assured U.S. employees 8n April 2020 that there would be no cuts in 2020 and that we were all one family and sticking together during COVID...

By the end of 2020 they laid off thousands....

Don't believe a word the say. Not one word

All from testing not affected.

I'm testing and still here....for how long we'll see.

Also if the townhall was 'softening us up' I'm not sure you were listening. I thought it was quite brutal

Word is there is a wave of cuts upon us in the coming weeks. I suspect it will be announced the week after the US senior leader visit…end of May into June is my best guess.

All from testing area were affected and had their calls today I heard. Apparently only last week they had a call with senior management where they were assured their jobs were safe.

As if morale wasn't bad enough, we get yet another round of redundancies, all at a time when the share price is still near the all-time highs!

In hindsight, it seems obvious now that the town hall last month was management softening us all up for a round of cuts. It really reveals what management think about employees. Instead of treating people with dignity and compassion, they are belittled and humiliated by a toxic management team that rules by fear.

P.S. They removed me and a lot of other people from the on-call allowance in the last week. I don't think it bodes well.
