Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

How many days in the office?

Can you share which area you are in and how many days a week you are asked to be in person?

Two days all usually spent at my desk on zoom calls. Was at one day a week and really liked that because I actually have one in-person meeting during that designated day. The second day isn’t really needed. It’s all about control, not collaborative or productivity as I’m significantly less productive in the office.

Three. All day spent on Zoom in a cube with sound canceling headphones. Like every one else here. Those who aren’t glued to Zoom are usually wasting time gossiping. Most people show up at 10 and bail at 3. Senior Directors and up? Nowhere to be seen. Either live out of state or cannot be bothered to come in.

We take turns bringing in bags of candy. That must be the collaboration everyone talks about.

Finance, just bumped up from 1 day a week to 2 days a week. Su-ks. I now spend 5 hours a week sitting in horrible traffic. For no real gains.

The offshoring to TII is ridiculous. Look at how many open salaried jobs there are in India compared to Minneapolis.

Having people in the office won’t course correct the Target ship.
In Finance we are seeing long time leaders jumping ship.

Let’s revisit the DEI decision and quit sending jobs to India as a start to the turnaround.

Personally I'm for the push for people returning to the office. I'm ecstatic to see my coworkers and employees in person. It's always disappointing to be at TNC on a non-Wednesday and seeing a desolate campus with a couple dozen people. While there are certainly benefits to WFH, one cannot deny that there are significant benefits for in-person collaboration especially in these uncertain times. Leadership has been phenomenal in crafting a vision for the future, but it's been hard to implement it with so many employees taking advantage of the flexibility offered from 4-5 days/wk WFH.

Enterprise Services. Similar to others: move to MN or get lost.

Too bad for us most of our best engineers were recruited in Texas, Florida, or California. They aren’t moving to this tundra.

I see more layoffs when this hamfisted approach leads to the best performers leaving and the mediocre ones getting over-promoted. As we just saw with the software “upgrade”

I saw someone mention GSCL remote members. Are they being asked to relocate or allowed to continue working remotely?

None other than core week at the moment but hearing at least one day per week starting this fall with potentially more days to be added. Ugh.

TES Team located at TNC—just waiting for the ax to fall. Most of our leaders are located outside of MN, so right now we are going to the office for Core Weeks only.
