Let go today because of "performance". I was doing the job of 2 1/2 people. 19 years of service and nothing but stellar reviews. Very disappointed at what this company has become.

It's clear to me now. These corporations really are evil.
Screen tracking: they were not doing this or listening to calls in our department prior to previous year. Furthermore, if this person got a RIF packet, why one earth would you try to make her feel like she got fired? That’s just being mean when people are clearly overworked. There is one form that’s in EVERYONE’s packet that says people were generally selected for the following reasons: insert reason they made up. They cannot back any of this up unless you’ve faced disciplinary action—which none of us had. That form in the RIF packet is what they’re basing it on. It’s a legal form, required when part of a RIF.
So you are saying you caused your own termination. Is that really something you should be bragging about?
Screen tracking: They did that to me, but what they didn't know was that I had two screens and they were watching the one I wanted them to see, not the one where I was doing the actual work. Luckily for me they let me go and I am now free of this SHlTHOLE. Too bad for them they were too stupid to figure out what I was doing. Situation normal.
they have been monitoring screens for years and can do it in real time or on any given date along with listen to any call you make on your work line.
Do we know which subs and which departments have the tracking stuff installed? At what point will it be on all of them?
The talking points specifically say it's due to a reduction in workforce and unrelated to performance. Maybe low performers have a different script.
They say performance on almost all of them because they have to give a generic reason of why you’re selected among your peers. It’s not going to say, “you’re older, we discriminate against people, you’re making too much money, or we don’t like you anymore.”
Mine said that, too. And I can tell you that I was not fired. I was immediately contacted to see if I wanted to work in another department, which I declined. I’m eligible for rehire. And I’m sure the OP is too. Good luck to you, OP. It’s their loss. This ship is sinking and trust me, you don’t want to be on it. They’re recording screens now with AWS in some departments without telling staff. A message pops up that it’s happening. But wouldn’t you think managers would tell you? A bunch of creeps at this company.
This doesnt sound like a RIF. Your boss and the HR rep on the call read a script and they would not mention performance. If no one from HR was on, this was a term and not a RIF.
Regardless, best of luck to you OP. Will prob end up being a good thing in the end.
Yeah, this is a bit weird.
You can’t just be suddenly let go for performance in other words fired. I mean was this a riff or was it an actual firing?
Were you told you were fired? Or were you rifd as the lowest performer of your team??
How you frame things matter. Were you on a performance plan and didn’t meet expectations?
Hang in there! If you made it 19 years you clearly know your stuff and will find something new and likely better. I'm sure it will take some pushing but I would suggest looking beyond Health Care. I've made some of my best moves in my career when I changed to a new business sector that was growing instead of staying in one that is shrinking.
Best of luck to you and others that got notice today!
