I have never met anyone who benefitted from hiring an attorney. I have met someone who lost their entire severance because they did.

Please consider talking to an attorney before signing anything. If you are over 40 you have 21 days to sign a severance agreement and 7 days to revoke if you have already signed.

I see your point about talking to an attorney before you sign anything but what you don’t know is that those that were riffed are still technically employed for 30 days. Meaning that they have to abide by ALL Elevance policies and code of conduct, which would include not talking to the media. That’s why you are not going to get a whole lot of responses from people on here that were riffed.

Before signing any paperwork, speaking to an attorney is absolutely within your rights—and highly advisable if you have concerns about:

A severance agreement or waiver of rights

NDAs or non-disparagement clauses

It’s very deep. I was told that Gail gave each area a ridiculous amount that they needed to cut from admin budget by June 1st. Meanwhile CG hires a new VP (her friend) who is bringing over a new team. My heart breaks for all of us going through this. Did people just lose their livelihoods so CG could hire a friend?
