Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why are we not hiring Young Americans instead of H1B for Engineering Roles

I know first hand a number of young college grads having a very hard time gettting their first jobs. Why is Charlie not developing America's young talent. I feel sad for this country. Americans built this company and then guys like Charlie stab our young folks in the back. They spin this lie that there's a shortage of people, yet they hire no young people out of college.. and worse he has the American staff train their Indian replacements before giving them a package. Charlie isn't even smart enough to be an engineer, and they pay him like 30 million or something a year. Can't take this place serious its an absolute joke run by an absolute mo--n.

Our team with mostly non Americans are hiring new college grads these days. ( not from any specific country/race)Thanks to the site for letting us know the hatred towards us. I wouldn’t have known this otherwise.

Z is finishing off Ukrs, and his comrade in arms doing the same here. In a roundabout sort of way.

Nailed it. People need to get over their "won't happen to me" delusion. It's going to happen to all of us, especially the lifers that think they are safe. The CEO hates you and wants you gone most of all.

Why on earth did @c7+1jt55gbyn post get down voted? We all need to be on our elected officials about h1b and off shoring. If not, we are toast. Unite people. Time to stand up against this looting of our country no matter which party is in office.

If you believe politicians will act on anything after 25 years of this, there is a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

I wrote a letter to local and federal politicians asking few simple questions and suggest some easy solutions. keep sending it to your congress representatives as they are the one who approve laws. ask them simple questions in town hall meetings if they show up. i am not seeing anyone is asking any questions like h1b or EAD work permit etc. in town hall. Before next election(2026) both parties must clear what they gona do for h1b and other temp visas rather than giving circle and round answers.

  1. When H1b was originated in 1990s', there were no offshore or remote concept. now almost 99% companies have offshore offices directly or via vendor route. why not we start counting offshore against h1b (85k ) limit too. why h1bs are still paid 60k minimum where everyone knows its way too low. why not 140k minimum yet for extra talented and master's degree holders. why they allow open exploitations after inviting them to work here.
  1. What you will do to all open EADs' issued to H4/L2/TN /DACA/OPT/CPT/TPS/Parole/Asylum etc.. Why not sector specific EAD and minimum wage and education qualification for each job before issuing generalized work permit.

I am hearing current administration's plan to address above to at some point before next election so we may not need if they act on it but biggest question is when they will act on it.

Speaking for someone who spent 25 years here and now laid off. Messaging to all of you, regardless of your position, skills, etc. You better be prepared for a long, rainy day. They want this company bare bones and the remaining bones will largely be cheap workers. You are on the list. You’re on the clock. Start preparing my fellow Americans and best of luck to you.

If Charlie wants to save costs so badly, why doesn't he want to become a hero by reducing some of his $30 million salary eh? There are many middle class people struggling to make their living, but Charlie should be easily able to accommodate that for maybe $10-$15 millions, no?

Wish for huge war India/pak. All H1B need to go fight in the border. Enjoy the jobs return from them. U ask $300+ dollars per hour and Charlie sit in the floor begging

@bs+1jt55gbyn - yeah, the big elephant in the room is the offshoring to save $. H1B as you noted is supposedly there to fill a skills gap.

while we know the primary driver is cost, h1b is supposed to be about skill not cost savings and companies are supposed to pay equivalent salary to what they would a domestic employee, but they don't and give the salary ranges are so largest these days they can easily hire one at the low end and still comply.

Wells Fargo is an anti American company. They ignore the US holidays and shove the diverse holidays at us. I’m so glad I’m leaving this shithole soon.
Just remember who Charlie is beholden to, it’s not America. The tribe pretends to belong while they undermine society.

With an administration that is so pro American worker one would think they might be interested in this draining of American talent by WF. One stroke of a pen could fix the problem. Hmmm....

Because even an experienced engineer in India is cheaper than a lower level engineer in the US. H1Bs are not going to be entry level either. I've done a few interviews lately for a lead level engineer and they've been a joke.

My daughter has a degree in Proj Management, experienced as a PM + scrum leader. Got laid off from a small company and hasn't been able to find a job in her field for well over a year.

it is frustrating when h1b is sold as a way for companies to fill positions with skilled workers they can't find domestically but from what I see at Wells, these jobs Re not different than any other role and could easily be filled with our domestics talent pool. Our government really should look at the abuse in the system, not just with Wells but all companies hiring h1b.

@ae+1jt55gbyn - Yes, to increase profits and yet our NET income is flat every quarter, certainly after 5 + years of layoffs, there will be something to show (not including lack of morale / chaos / offshore hours / holidays interfering with our work)

Because young Americans are lazy. They want a huge salary and want to work from home 5 days per week and will get upset and complain to HR at the smallest inconveniences. This is just no way to build a company anymore.

Because HYs fantasy is to get rid of American workers and have AI, automation, contractors, and a legion of cheap 3rd worlders make them tons of money while they chill in their ivory tower. They hate us and want us all gone.

It's not just young Americans, all Americans are being sacrificed. Many knowledgeable experienced professionals are being cut and also being excluded from job candidate pools. Charlie is importing H1Bs and also offshoring jobs only because those people are very cheap, much much cheaper than Americans. You know, you get what you pay for, cheaper goods come with lower quality. But Charlie doesn't care about quality standards, all he cares about is pleasing shareholders by cutting costs (by cutting corner) and increasing profits.
