Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

People! Stop working when sick

Including myself. I don't work when I'm sick I just don't. But there are many people on confernce calls that can barely talk, sneezing coughing, whether your home or in the office, It's simply not worth it especially here. It becomes expected. I was called at home when I had the by my boss. If your sick take sick time if you have a separate ' bucket' all unused sick upn departure, all sick time goes in Anthems pocket.they get several hundred hours from people it adds up. Please tke care of yourselves..You're loved ones need you. Blessings..

A cold can last 7 days or more. Am I supposed to take 7 days of PTO every time I get a cold to make your a-s happy? Then try and make up all those in office days to. Also I have kids who get sick and have to take pto then too. The a--hole who said just “save up pto” is a dum--ss because I can’t really plan for di-k kids. My pto gets used up quick. Thanks for trying to explain being an adult to me fu-----e. You’re a condescending fu-k. You can handle a cold. Get the fu-k over it hypochondriac.

People! Stop tell other people how to live! Like gosh maybe someone is coughing or losing their voice because of allergies. Maybe you should mind your own damn business. Just because you freak out when someone sneezes or coughs doesn’t mean they need to tiptoe around you. Get over yourself.

I don’t care what my coworkers think about me. I will do what I want and will come to work while sick, gotta spread so people’s immune systems toughen up. All you wu-sy people need to build up your natural immunity.

I love my pu--y whiny hypochondriac coworkers who expect everyone to bend to their will too! Nobody cares! Get over it.

People on here making excuses for bad behavior. If you are sick, stay home.

You do not need time in your sick bank. You can take PTO. Perhaps you should save a couple of PTO days in case you are sick. We would all rather use our PTO for fun but being a responsible adult means you cannot always do what is fun. As it was previously said, your coworkers must love you when you bring your germs in and make them sick. Think about others instead of yourself. Hybrid 2 is going into the office 9 times a month. If you are sick, you can go in more than 3 days a week the other weeks to stay complient.

@b4+1jt3n10pr.
We’re not punishing our coworkers by going into work sick. EH policy is punishing our coworkers. Don’t blame the person who has to fulfill in office mandates and may not have the PTO to take, blame the policy that forces people to come to work sick.

Agree. Leadership wants us to go into the office sick. They don’t care and I’d rather use my PTO for fun. Sorry to the original OP but now we have stupid in office mandates to abide by. This is going to mean more sick people going into the office. Also not everyone has time in their sick bank. It’s a nice thought but just not realistic. Maybe you need to wear a mask so you’re safe. I’m not going to wear a mask and take my chances. Just goes to show “Health of Humanity” doesn’t apply to employees.

Sick time = RIF time. I knew a guy who went in with terminal cancer to hold onto benefits for his family. He passed shortly after. RIP

Gotta meet the required days in office or else. That means mask up and go in sick. Toxic policies lead to su-k people.

@aj+1jt3n10pr By coming into work sick, all you are doing is hurting your co-workers who don't want to be there any more than you do. Why punish them by making them sick from your cold? That is a very selfish attitude. I can assure you that your coworkers think less of you for doing it.

Yes, this is really changing the mindset of an individual that has always had a strong work ethic. This Year was suppose to be about "TRuST". Sad looking at all the free nights, weekends wasted.

Agree! I get that, it's not worth ' banking' sick time anymore I enjoyed three days of rest while getting better. It was nice.

COVID didn't just disappear btw. It's just not in the news cycle because it's endemic. Flu too. You're risking getting people's elderly relatives ki-led by coming in and spreading these things. While working for a health insurer no less which will be paying out for many of those bills that they'll take on. Hope you've got a good reason to take that all risk by heading into the central airflow office while sick.

It is allergy season. Could be people are just hacking because of that. They aren’t contagious and maybe don’t want to burn sick days for that.
