Bring back forced ranking. Fire the bottom 10% every year. Be done with it just cut the dead weight every year so we don’t need this reorg garbage.

Different ball game with everything getting outsourced. It’s not just 10%. Numbers are a lot higher than that and CVX isn’t done yet. Outsourcing is a program that will hit you soon.
We called them The Bottom Teners way back when. The fact was, many of them weren’t and they were head scratchers when let go. So you stick your head back into your computer and pretend you are needed and well that’s it until the next reorg.
We don’t have the b@11s to fire low performers especially DEI
@cq, it depends on which company we’re talking about. If it’s Exxon, yes, you fire the bottom performer of the 10. If it’s Chevron, no, you act like all 10 perform equally and you accept mediocrity year after year from 2 or 3 of them.
But Uncle Mikey said the employees asked for the current system.
How does the dead weight explain gorgon, Wheatstone or any other mcp failures?
So if you are slimed down to 10 people people on your team, and all 10 are performing well…do you just randomly fire a person every year?
@c6+1jt25jhr7 almost verbatim what I was told when I started 20 years ago and it still holds true. Outside of the 5 year cycle, to get fired it has to be something you can be held liable for vs just being a poor performer
Firing someone in Chevron is nigh impossible unless they have stolen or harassed. The layoffs we have every few years are a direct result of our inability to fire poor performers. We’re too nice, and as a result, everyone suffers the incompetent.
Hahahaha….. we hire the 10% from others (they tend to leave when near when they know there numbers up).
It's very naive to think any amount of routine firings mean an end to chronic restructuring.
Hah. They never got rid of the bottom 10%, that’s a different company. We’ve kept all the dead weight for years. You only got let go from a failed PIP if your supervisor just didn’t like you.
Sure, no problem. Your ranking is a cluster 3. Congratulations you’re now part of the bottom 10%.
