Closed a 10 million dollar with a small team. New logo. Did another million ARR with 2 new logos the following year. Grew existing accounts in tech pre-sales and got new business. Still got the axe.
Told the decision was made by some other group based on cost savings. Literally a spreadsheet decision. I was in many meetings with VP+ and this is where it gets murky. There is so much waste - no real strategy - just activity to give appearance of progress.
Took a while for me to think through it all. People I worked with were great. The org and LOB was broken. Executive leadership was just entirely ineffective - very lazy. I was talking to a customer exec.(EVP+) at one of our larger customers during dinner and they directly said in-person meetings with MB were a waste of time. They were disappointed by the lack of value and insight the ELT provided to help accomplish their business objectives. At the time I brushed it off and tried to smooth it over.
There are many great people in the company. Take comfort that it's a failure of the people above your pay grade. Better off somewhere with strong leadership.
