Cutting management? Fine. There are too many, and a lot don’t add real value. But cutting even more of the people who actually do the work? The ones who remain will eventually start dropping like flies, one by one. My team’s already been cut to the bone. I don’t have a life outside of work anymore, and I can’t shut my brain off even during the little downtime I get. If this keeps up, I’ll hit burnout so hard I may never want or be able to work again.

This is the problem, those who are left are too scared to refuse doing the work of roles that were eliminated. The role was eliminated. Keep doing your role, if they ask you to take on more work, ask for an updated job description and pay raise. Nobody can make you take on more work. You are allowing it.
Regarding the work, there is benefit to determine and document (nature and extent) three key requirements tied to people resources and workflow:
- what to stop doing
- what to continue doing
- what to start doing
Then estimate your level of effort for related workflow tasks, priorities and risk management….
