Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Be warned

They are advising people to hide any details from mentors about the final structure and roles available because it will be even worth than you think. There is a reason details are still being withheld until the last moment. If you can't afford to sit around without a job (even with severance) then take action now.
Good luck.

Can confirm everyone in Manila has been advised of their new positions and titles in the new structure. All are under gag orders until 1 July. All were managed moves.

Exercise caution as not all is at it seems.

I went through the last layoff fiasco in 2020 and the one before that and the one before that. It's all the same. Those in the 26+ category, HiPots and management's favorites will be taken care of. In fact, they have already been moved into their new job or have been told what their job is. They have been told to keep quiet and not engage in the water cooler gossip. I distinctly remember in 2020 during the townhalls that you shouldn't bid for a job that is a higher PSG or promotion. It's all smoke and mirrors designed to keep you in the dark and unable to plan. It's just like PMPs that now have no rating. All hogwash to keep you guessing. When the dust settled, people were stunned at who were given promotions or the high visibility assignments that they encouraged people not to bid on. I'm out of this mess. I may have missed out on some money and left some opportunity on the table but I'll take my lumps and move on.

I’ve got a pretty good idea of exactly how bad it’s going to be, at least in my department. I have no idea why they are keeping me around. I have totally checked out.

This is the most ludicrous strategy I have ever witnessed, in any organisation I’ve worked in. It shows complete incompetence from leadership.

I hope that the twelve months of tanked productivity, the cost of recruitment, the cost of new facilities, the cost of mistakes, the cost of redundancies, and the costs of never being able to hire top talent in the US again is worth the cost savings.

26-28 round includes a lot of implementation leads. Of course they’re going to make sure they have positions for themselves and their friends. My mentor said there were hundreds of jobs to pick from.

PLENTY of jobs in the 26-27 round.
Remember, these are not the jobs offshored. This round is pretty generous. Even some 25s getting a promotion.

Next round is going to be sad as the rank and file are the people losing jobs, never the managers.

For the 26+, are they under NDA once they get to look at the roles available? How slim were the pickings?

OP - thanks for your thoughts. Agree; this is a precarious situation for many of us and likely, most will not have a job when the dust settles. I'm in the second wave and am watching intently as to how things go down in the next two months. I'm trying to time my job search so it hits right when I can get severance, but it's unlikely I will find something as quickly as in years past. What I do know is if I wait until after severance, at least for me, that money will run out before I land something else.
