One thing that all open text employees should know… There is always a current RIF list (Reduction in force) sitting with with the EVPs. Names are added to, and taken off pretty much at random.
Does this mean it's possible to volunteer?

Firstly to be clear not the person who mentioned above elt have a mental list of worst performers. WFR is not that, it is cost on a spreadsheet and yes ELT have a list of this round, next round and upcoming rounds in their hear in preparation. Some mgrs can be influenced to self nominations, but play it down.
I can tell you for a fact that this is not. The company does not mandate that executives or leaders keep an active termination list. However, most leaders mentally know who their best and worst performers are.
That is not unique to OpenText, some managers will note people looking to retire or leave and put them on the list even though they are not ranked low. Obviously, companies don’t want this since they don’t want to pay severance if someone wants to leave voluntarily. If managers get caught asking people if they want to leave, they could be reprimanded or terminated themselves. But it’s a common wink-wink process.
