Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Thursday apr 24 2026

Today should be the last day of main layoffs for the americas. There will be a small group remaining for OOO, sick, vacation, travelling, etc.

Expect an email from mark today telling you how painful this was for him but OT needed this (better together, efficiency, AI, blah blah).

Some ELT should follow up mark’s not3 with their own. Same coordinated messaging.

This was a mix of pure layoffs with positions that won’t be replaced and layoffs where pids are being moved from the USA to Canada.

Seems IT laid off more than half its Manila staff and I heard some of those positions will be moving to Canada.

I heard an HR person say the total will be 2000.

Remember Europe is to come due to government approvals. I hear other office may still be shut down like China (someone mentioned it in another thread as well).

Sorry for those affected
Congrats to those that survived this round of the hunger games.

Thanks to your sacrifices, king Mark can continue to get his huge bonuses and continue to eat caviar & drink champagne. All is well for the ELT. Can’t wait to see how they spin this with investors.

Just curious is he still bashing IBM bye bye blues in every all hands meeting? It seems like bye bye OtexMix is going out first.

No regrets for leaving a cesspool—consider it a blessing in disguise. Freedom comes at a price; it is costly, yet always worth it. Think ahead, embrace the future, and rest assured that water and oxygen taste far better outside of Opentext.

The title of the post “24 April 2026” is prophetic and apocryphal at the same time.

If OT survives to 24 Apr 2026, the post is likely prophetic: there will be an April 2026 layoff!

If OT does not survive until 24 Apr 2026, the post is apocryphal.

Either way, OT is a dead-company-walking.

I’ve heard Costa Rica and Israel were dramatically impacted, and India also. I feel for those left behind as the infrastructure continues to crumble - who’s left to support the internal processes and customers. With more layoffs happening in June, best to be prepared. The writing is on the wall, painted by the blood 🩸 and sweat of many peoples careers that were just flushed down the toilet, with an insulting severance as a thank you on your way being ushered out the door.

Mark will request that all employees type this sentence 500 times “Now is the time for all good OpenTexters to come to the aid of their company.”

“Seems IT laid off more than half its Manila staff“

Yes. You are correct. Around 98% of its IT staff was laid off.

Gonna send Marks email straight to spam. Some people struggle when losing jobs, meanwhile The Hut is on his yacht having a party.

Did he even go into the office yet? Mark you didn’t go in 3 times a week last week, I’m gonna have to write you up. Stop napping on the couch on company time.
