Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

This might be the first time my team was actually spared

Could it be they realized they've pushed us as far as they could? I was the first to tell my manager I'd walk if we lost another person to whatever and didn’t get a replacement within a few weeks. A bunch of my teammates said the same. Is there any chance that made a difference, or was it just a coincidence and I’m giving them way too much credit?

There is always next quarter.

Mark likes teamwork.
The pain should be spread to every team

This is your warning to leave if you can

No one cares about you specifically - harsh, but it's true. As someone else said, they would probably be glad if you left because that would make it easier for them

They are also waiting on you to walk, as it makes it easier for them.
One of the reasons they make harsh demands, so people will take the hint and spare them the action.

Nobody in the company cares about your feet stomping and pouting.

There will be another round. Six layoffs in two years. C'mon, man. You gotta read the writing on the wall by now.

Mark is an id--t and he only knows how to acquire and cut. This last acquisition was a bad one, though and he's having to cut deep now.

It's not over. There is another wave in June part of the same event. Some headcount was deemed needed through end of FY.

If their prior pattern holds from the last several years, the actions taken this week are only phase one.
Once they get thru YE very likely they will execute the 2nd half of this year's downsizing plan. I don't know what this means for your group but I would put a 'plan B' in place, brush up your resume just in case. Good luck and there is much better opportunities outside of OT.
