Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

my 2c

It's rough but stay strong. i'v been there and it felt like giving up on everthing. for 3months i interviewed at over ten companies then nothing for weeks because of the holidays. every time a recruiter asked why i wanted the job i just wanted to say isn't it obvious i got laid off and my savings are almost gone...

eventually i found a job. Everyone does. You will too. what helped was being honest with people around me neighbors friends even random folks if they asked how i was doing i told them not okay and it honestly felt freeing. i asked for referrals recomendations and it removed the shame from being laid off...

I also stopped eating out, slept eight hours most nights after the first few rough ones and used melatonin per doctor advice. exercise helped MUCH more than i expected! i prepped for interviews in a sane way not sixteen hour marathons but balanced time between resumes and mock prep.

Talked to my support system every day.

good luck all and i wish all plays well for you no matter what happens

It's so true. I worked for a company I thought I'd die at.
15 years of service and we had a well oiled group of people that worked perfectly together, then all of a sudden, all our jobs went to india.
two years later india drove it into the ground and the product was retired.
It hurt a lot. It hurt that all the nights and weekends I gave to them didn't matter at all.
But I found a better company on the other side and all the skills I gained up to that point, made me a master in my new company.
There is something to be said for going somewhere new where they didn't see you cut your teeth learning a technology or a process...
Keep your heads held high. You have great skills that somewhere out there are going to be welcomed!!!!!!!!
